What's John Writing? (A Book Of The Seven Seals)
Stuck in a foreign car
Alongside a road
I’ve tried to be a good man
God Almighty knows

I cried, “Lord, Lord!”
He said, “I never knew you.”
A rooster crowed twice
So I denied him too

The moon rose up bloody
All the trumpets were mute
Bridesmaids were weeping
As we put on our wedding suits

The beasts at the manger
Had ten heads and horns
I had a vision
We were all stalks of corn

Some bowed down to me
Some bowed down to you
Some bled corn syrup
High fructose too

I cried, “Lord, Lord
Is this the Judgment Day?”
There was thunder from the throne
That’s when I heard you say:

REFRAIN: Weep not my little child
Weep not nor wail
Daddy’s coming home along
Apocalyptic trails

Stopped in a church
Thought I might pray
The font had no water
The stained glass was gray

Grape juice for sacred blood
Dry the cup of wine
They traded in the broken bread
For the organic kind

Gone were the precious few
That held us to our roots
Gone were the summer soils
Gone the autumn fruits

Gone was the preacher’s voice
Gone the prophet’s call
Gone were the barroom poets
With their backs against the wall

The sun has turned to ashes
Will the universe collapse?
You just seemed to smile
Saying, “Don’t even ask”

“Was then, is now
Evermore shall be
World without end
That is my prophecy”
